This is the page for the 2004 edition of Connecting Educational Communities.

In addition to continuing our work in the schools, this year, we were fortunate to have three elementary school teachers with us. Their expertise and enthusiasm added tremendously to this year's trip.

Before leaving for Guatemala, the group raised money for development projects and gathered educational supplies for the schools. This year's group raised $2,500 and brought down 20 duffle bags of educational supplies.

With the money raised we:

• bought materials and labor for the construction of a fully equipped basketball court.
• purchased 50 desks
• paid for the paint to decorate a wall surrounding one of the schools with Mayan numerals, Guatemalan patriotic symbols and the complete ABCs.
• after completing this project with our host school teachers, their students and other community members we paid for the construction and installation of two sets of gates.
